Welcome 2015!

It is inevitable that a post like this is written at the start of the year.  I wasn't going to do it because I don't think I'm particularly interesting, but I have been enjoying reading other blogger's goals for the coming year.  Firstly, however, I'd like to wish everybody a very Happy New Year!  My evening was spent away at my in-law's farm in Wakool in New South Wales and it was extremely quiet.  In fact all of us, men included, were in bed by about 10.30pm!  My husband and his brothers had shearing the next day, so very sensibly they had a couple of drinks and got some shut eye.

So on to my goals....

I actually haven't really given it that much thought but there are a few things that stand out for me.

Ok when I say health I mean my back and my anxiety.  My back is a huge problem at the moment and has been since about three months after my daughter was born.  She is now almost 18 months.  As it turns out I have arthritis in my back as well as a bulging disc so I can't sleep due to the pain and I spend the majority of my time in agony.  This year, for my own sanity, I need to get on top of this.  I have started working on my core strength already, so this is my main strength up my core through targeted exercises and swimming.  Hopefully the pain shall recede as I gain my strength. An off-shoot of this is I also might lose the baby fat around my hips and tummy (impossible to shift ladies!!), which would be an added bonus.  (Note: Think twice before having four children....three of those being within the last 5 years!)
Panic attacks are another problem for me so I want to nip those in the bud this year too.

I haven't had a holiday since my honeymoon, which was over 5 years ago.  My husband is not really a big believer in holidays so I am planning on booking one, stuffing him in the car and just driving him there.  Fingers crossed it happens.

With improved core strength I shall hopefully be able to ride more and with that increase my confidence, skills and improve my horse. (She can be a little naughty at times.)  Are you reading this Ruby?!?!  Look out..I'm coming!

House and Garden
My home is a bit blah.  I'm not very good at decorating and have a lot of second hand furniture and nothing is really how I want it.  I would like to start to furnish and decorate properly and the garden is terrible.  Basically there is none.  That needs fixing too.

Continue writing and taking photos for the magazine I work for, which may be expanding into other projects, which would mean more work.  This would be a great thing.  This could then pay for my phantom holiday and all the things I want to do around the house.

This will be my first full year of blogging properly so I am looking forward to really gearing it up.  I would like to build up my following and start to look towards making blogging a full time job.  It may not happen this year but I would like to put the steps in place to make it happen.  Using social media to its full potential would be another goal, as well as making lots of new blogger friends and connections.  I would also like to attend some blogger events if possible (when babysitting is available!)
In terms of content I am enjoying the sudden fashion turn that my blog has taken, so there will be more OOTD posts, which really requires more skill in taking photos of myself (!) and learning how to pose better...because frankly, I'm no model!  Also the new direction I would like to take is introducing a Weekly Vlog.  There are a couple of blogs whose weekly videos I love watching, and even though their lives are WAY more interesting...(ie. living in glamorous cities, going out to restaurants...having no kids tagging along with them..... ) I kind of figured that an insight into the life of a 'married-with-lots-of-kids-sheep-farming-horse-riding-cowgirl-type' might be a little bit amusing.  Just for something different.  Anyway, we'll see how we go.

Wishing you all a great 2015!  May all your dreams come true!

  1. Happy New Year!

This is a great list of goals, good luck with them!

  2. Replies
    1. Thank you Nadia.. Happy new year to you too!

  3. Happy New Year!! I love reading resolutions and the reasoning behind them, so I'm ALL FOR this post!! Haha!

I have some back issues too, not from arthritis but from a congenital issue, so I know what you mean that back pain can keep you up all night. I hope you're able to strengthen (and sounds like hopes to tone) this year. lololol to Ruby! Watch out!

OH I WOULD LOVE to see you do a weekly vlog! I have been trying this out for such a long time, and it's hard when I'm out on the town alone. You can get an awful amount of stares your way as you talk to yourself through a camera. But, I find it easier when you have someone else around... Like people think you are talking to the other person and you are just filming it... LOL. But in all seriousness, they ALL have "glamorous city lives" and all go to the same places and all wear the SAME makeup... I want to see new and exciting things! Your life is so interesting for others because you're in an amazing place in the world that one half looks like normal and up north looks like the savannah. Anyway, I hope you can figure out how to get through a week of vlogging, if you do pleaaaaase share your secret. I've been trying loll..

    Much Love!!!

    1. Ok, so you've given me a bit of a spur on to try the vlogging thing. I have a rodeo video to put up ( husband survived!!!) and I am going away this weekend by myself (NO KIDS!!!!.....I know...can you believe it!?!) to a Cattleman's get together where there will be The Stockman's Challenge (big endurance horse race), whip cracking, dog high jump, bands and basically lots of good times, so I plan on doing some filming there. Stay tuned lol!

  4. I think your goals are splendid! You should totally just blind fold your hubby and take him somewhere. We do that all the time. Even if it's just for a date, it makes the excitement so much fun. Looking forward to sharing 2015 with you. (:

    1. Thank you Kiki. Yes, I will drag hubby out, even if he protests!! Have a great 2015!

  5. I know how difficult panic attacks can be, get a good therapist, it can really help you (:

  7. Aw, really great goals. Good luck!
And about the back, that must be really hard to deal with. My mom kind of went through the same thing and so she started swimming and doing pilates. You could try replacing your office chair with a bouncing ball! Like the one in the gym? That adds less pressure to your back and your hips, so maybe it could help. :)
    Have a great year!

  8. Great post ! I'm waiting for the next xoxo ♥
