Postcards From Australia

For something a little different, and perhaps a little odd...I thought that today I would connect with you in a whole new way.  Postcards.

I was thinking about the state of my letterbox.  Particularly today when I went out there to check the mail and all I got was a pile of bills and my tax return...which is asking me to pay yet more money.  What a sad state of affairs.  Those long narrow envelopes with the dreaded window pane harking the arrival of yet another bill has led me to wonder.  Where are all the letters?  I mean it is called a 'letterbox' isn't it?

So...this has brought me to this idea that perhaps, particularly in this digital and cyber world that we live in, that just maybe other people out there have lonely letter-thirsty letterboxes too.  Do you only receive bills and junk mail?  Do you only receive the odd card one a year on your birthday?  Is the only time the mailman brings something exciting to your door is the time when you've splashed out on something you probably didn't need and he then goes and leaves the parcel out on your doorstep in the rain....or squishes it and ruins it by plugging up your mailbox with it?  Yes!?!

Ok, here's my plan.

For all of you who would like something happy and friendly in their mailbox I would like to send you a postcard.  All the way from Australia.  Just to say 'hi'.  And cheer up your letterbox.

To participate just shoot me a quick email at amber.freelance@gmail.com with the word 'Postcards' as the subject and let me know your address, then I will pop a special hello in the post from the land Down Under over to you.

I look forward to cheering up your letterbox!

* To maintain your privacy all addresses will remain private and will not be shared via this blog or any social media sites nor printed elsewhere, nor will they be sold or anything else silly like that.  This is just for fun!

  5. This seriously just made my day. Little story, when I was in grade school a boy I had a crush on gave me an Australian dollar (maybe, it had Kangaroos on it) I remembered thinking it was the coolest thing. You are such a lovely person inside and out and this is such an inspiring post. (: The world needs for genuine people like you.

    1. Thanks! I used to have pen friends when I was a kid, so lots of letters in the mail and it was great. The last time I got a postcard was when my mum went on holiday to Italy, which I think was about 2 years ago now. x

  17. Is it too late to get in on a postcard from the Land of Oz? I followed your link from Bush Babe's blog and think this is a fabulous idea. I send little cards too to a dear friend in Canada and another in The Netherlands. I would love to have a postcard buddy in Australia. I enjoy seeing the incredible variety of wildlife and plants and people who inhabit your delightful world. I am a huge fan of Eden Riley's Edenland blog as well as Bush Babe's gorgeously designed Granite Glen internet home.

I'll pop you an email and follow your blog, too now that I have found it !~!

  18. I love the postcard, Amber. The honey jar and the little leaves with flowers and buds--just so cute. I see it there in the picture of this post.

How was the birthday party for your son? Did you get that cake made? It's been ages since I decorated a birthday cake !~!

I'll send you back some sights of the City (San Francisco) if you email me your mailing address. We have some really cool vistas of mountains, rivers, ocean, rocky outcroppings, forests, trees that reach above the clouds, desert, urban vistas like ten-land roadways...

Thanks so much for sending a bit of your world to me. Namaste to you and your family.
