Shearing Video

I posted a little video last weekend where I showed you all the animals that I come in to contact with on a regular basis, which you can view here.  In it I introduced you to the dogs, the horses, a rabbit, a cat, my cow and her calf and also our sheep.  I promised I would show you a little video of my husband shearing, so today here he is!  As well as doing this during the week as a job he is often found on weekends shearing a few, either ours, his Dads or his brothers.  In this video he had a little weekend job for a neighbour of my Dad.

It's pretty self-explanatory but if it's not something you see everyday it can be kind of interesting!
I hope you like it and maybe learned something new!

  2. That was so much fun to watch! I saw it live in Wisconsin once and thought it was soo cool. I don't understand why the sheep, which are such shy and jumpy creatures when you pass out in nature (they run freely in Norway), let a person do that to them. Why don't they jump up and sprint out of there? And do they get shy afterwards, like dogs and human beings tend to when they have a new hair cut?

    1. Hi! I'm glad it was fun to watch! The sheep don't really get much of a choice really! They are grabbed in a specific way and caught so that they shearer can drag them backwards. Then they are held in a specific way too so that they won't wriggle too much (although sometimes they do!) They do like being let go though, but they don't seem to notice they've lost their wool...they just seem more relieved to be let out the shoot really! (they probably go around comparing hair cuts later!! haha!)
